Solutions Design Engineer
Detroit, Michigan
Salary: $85,000-$110,000 base Bonus Benefits
JBAndrews is currently partnered with a growing contract logistics provider as they look to appoint a well-versed Solutions Design Engineer to add to their growing team.
Job Duties:
• Assists in the sales process by supporting the solutions team’s response to RFPs including developing materials and presenting to potential clients
• Develops AutoCAD layouts that include engineering business best practices and lessons learned
• Identifies risks and mitigation plans to reduce OHL exposure and risk on project; communicates such to leadership; serves as liaison between customer and business for design projects
• Prepares engineering documents to describe solution and detailed operating concepts such as storage and shipping capacity, zoning, slotting, waving, etc.
• Facilitates reviews with key work stream leads including engineering peers, WMS implementation team and operations; may include presentation to senior leaders
• Manages material handling vendors through schedule, permitting, installation, commissioning, punch lists, etc.
• Validates all equipment installation, including necessary testing of automated material handling equipment
• Effectively communicates relevant project information to leadership and customers
• Other duties as required and assigned
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (industrial engineering preferred) from an accredited institution, Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 4 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must have strong knowledge of warehouse design, material handling equipment and storage media technologies, pick methodology, work measurement, labor management, slotting, and warehouse value added services (i.e., kitting and price labeling)
• Experience with warehouse management systems, warehouse control systems, and warehouse execution systems required
• Proficient with CAD software
• PC literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, technical procedures, engineering drawings, and governmental regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at one time
• Ability to effectively communicate process and technical concepts to a variety of audiences from entry level warehouse employee to executive level
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage own work
• Ability to travel up to 40% of time
