Description:
The Payload Activity Requirements Coordinator (PARC) is the Payload Developer's (PD) interface for payload planning on the International Space Station. The PARC works assigned payloads across all increments for the life of the payload. Note that an increment pair is roughly 6 months.
- The PARC works with the PD in developing the payload planning models for operations on International Space Station (ISS) for each increment. The PARC develops payload activity models used in other products such as the On-orbit Operations Summary (OOS), the Weekly Look-ahead Plan (WLP), and the Short Term Plan (STP). The planning requirements are baselined each increment through two products: the Payload Activity Requirements Document (PARD) spreadsheet and the Payload Planning Overview (PPO) graphic. At the completion of the baselining process, the PARC delivers the completed payload activity models to the Payload Planning Managers (PPM) for pre-increment and real-time planning. If any changes are found to be needed near real-time execution, the PARC supports the re-planning process and any updates for planning documentation.
- Legacy payloads are updated as needed on a case by case basis. New and significantly changed re-flight payloads are baselined individually in concert with the payload crew procedures based on either the launch date of the payload’s ascent flight or the expected operations date if it is significantly later than the launch date. The PARC prepares products and supports the Engineering Change Request (ECR) Reviews for their assigned payloads.
- The PARC position requires expertise in the Operations Planning Timeline Integration System (OPTIMIS) suite including the Web Activity Dictionary (WebAD) and Score. The PARC also utilizes Microsoft Excel and Power Point extensively to build planning products. The PARC uses the Operations Change Request (OCR) application to facilitate planning updates required for near real-time execution re-planning as well as to document planning changes that impact the next immediate increment pair. The PARC requires a basic understanding of ISS resources such as power, data, and video, and must also possess logic skills to build sequences of activities that facilitate efficient planning in the timeline. The PARC will be required to complete the PARC Individual Training Plan (ITP) before becoming certified.
Education Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Science.
Experience Required:
None. Collegiate Internship or Scientific Laboratory experience desirable.
Skills Required:
Roles will include operations product development, operations process implementation, and support to operations execution. Good communication skills are a necessity. Knowledge of MS PowerPoint and Excel is highly desirable. Some degree of leadership is expected.
Work Location:
Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) Huntsville, AL United States
Selected candidate must be a US citizen. Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required. JBS participates in E-Verify.
