POSITION:Safety and Occupational Health Manager
DEPARTMENT:Safety
LOCATION:Marshalltown, IA
SALARY CLASS:Exempt
DUTIES:
Manage external regulatory compliance; OSHA, Fire department
Occupational Health & Workers Compensation Insurance/Loss control, State Health department.
Act as a consultant to management & employees on various safety, training, health, and ergonomic issues.
Manage the plant Safety, Occupational and Heath and Security Staffs
Manage and implement all JBS OSHA Safety Compliance Programs.
PPE (personal protective equipment) auditing and development of new requirements.
Take part in Hazard Evaluation and control measures.
Take part in an effective EAP (Emergency Action Plan).
Perform Safety and Health, Ergonomic and security training as identified.
Attend and assist with safety committees; Perform general compliance audits
Facilitate training sessions to present employees with new safety training as identified.
Management of Contractors through our ISN platform.
Collaborate with Process Safety Management (PSM) system.
Oversee Emergency response and action plan process to include hazmat, confined space rescue.
Working in correspondence with the local UFCW in dealing with the CBA and any other applicable labor union relation as they apply to safety and health.
Review all safety and ergonomic capital expenditures.
Development and manage safety, occupational and security expense budgets.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in Safety/Industrial Hygienist not required but a plus.
Excellent people skills
Ability to plan time efficiently.
Ability to conduct training classes as assigned.
Good communication skills – written and oral
Good attendance record
