JOB SUMMARY:

Every day our team helps our partners feed the world safely and efficiently by providing food processing solutions that maximize yield, uptime, sustainability, and minimize cost of ownership.

This position keeps in close communication with the Shipping & Receiving Team Lead in order to get shipments out on time and keep the receiving department running smoothly. Position is accountable for accurate documentation, safety, proper handling of materials and equipment being shipped.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare products, equipment, and containers for shipment by performing duties and responsibilities to quality and productivity standards.
  • Verify accuracy of shipment against shipping documents and keep records on outgoing shipments
  • Assemble boxes and construct shipping crates using hand tools and power tools
  • Deliver boxes either by hand, with dolly, or by forklift to various shop locations and dock for pickup
• Load trucks for shipment using a variety of material handling techniques
  • Skidding
  • Crane Operating (lifting/hoisting)
  • Rigging
• Practice good housekeeping and safety in work area

Occasional Responsibilities:

Performs other duties as assigned.  May be cross trained in job functions based on capacity requirements.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum 1 years’ experience in a warehouse/distribution center environment

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Mechanical: Ability to safely use pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material movement devices
• Mathematics: Basic math skills required; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, compute percentages.
• Technical:  General knowledge of computers/systems; able to use Microsoft email and Office products; ERP experience a plus
• Communication: Effectively communicate with internal and external contacts. Ability to problem solve/resolve cross functional issues and maintain good relationships

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment: 

• Primarily semi- temperature controlled, indoor production environment. Well-lit and well ventilated.
• Exposed to production shop hazards including heavy equipment, shop traffic, uneven/slippery footing, sharp metal edges, etc. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather elements.  
• Production shop requires appropriate safety measures such as safety shoes and safety glasses

Physical Demands:

• Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk, stoop, kneel, crouch
• Frequent use of a computer keyboard and mouse
• Regular lifting, push, pull, etc. up to 50 lbs.
• Regular manipulation or handling of packages

Other:

• Moderate stress to complete work within deadlines
• Some weekends and/or overtime may be required
• Travel not required; Work is performed at a single location
• Work/make decisions independently and under minimal supervision
