Job Description: The Building Access Control Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the access control and security processes for designated government facilities. The specialist ensures compliance with security protocols, maintains incident logs, and coordinates access systems to guarantee a secure and controlled environment for all personnel, visitors, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish, manage, and maintain access control processes, including maintaining a daily visitor logbook.
- Maintain building access security incident logs and report incidents to the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) as per government directives.
- Maintain a physical presence at the building entrance during business hours to monitor and coordinate access.
- Coordinate and issue visitor badges while ensuring all visitors present valid identification upon entry.
- Respond to and report emergency situations to the appropriate authorities.
- Oversee and manage building access control systems and security alarm systems.
- Support the security clearance process and issue temporary building access badges as necessary.
- Configure building staff badges with restricted elevator access based on role and employment, maintaining control logs for all building occupants.
- Coordinate vendor support for hardware, software, or application-level issues with the building access system.
- Assess physical security systems (e.g., CCTV, IT systems, and cameras) and provide recommendations for improvement or replacement. Conduct market surveys and report findings to the government.
- Create and manage incident logs for all recorded security incidents, sending reports to the COR as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in physical security or building access control systems.
- Familiarity with access control and security alarm systems.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Knowledge of government policies and procedures related to physical security is a plus.
- Technical proficiency in managing badge configuration and access systems.
