Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. The ideal candidate has strong numerical skills, industry knowledge, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
- Use software tools to create detailed and accurate cost estimates.
- Maintain records of estimated and actual costs for future use.
- Present cost estimates to clients or management with supporting data and justification.
- Identify risks and opportunities in the bid process.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Estimator or similar role in government contracts
- Familiarity with financial and project management principles
- Strong analytical and math skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the government sector
- Knowledge of industry standards and pricing
- Certification such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) is a plus
