Job Duties of a Custodian & Retail Store Assistant:
- Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and lunch rooms, including sinks, toilets, and mirrors.
- Empty trash cans and recycling bins, and dispose of waste properly.
- Dust and wipe down furniture, windows, walls, fixtures and displayed items.
- Clean desks, tables, windows, doors, and other glass surfaces.
- Building Upkeep:
- Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper in restrooms and break areas.
- Monitor and report maintenance issues, such as leaks, broken fixtures, or damaged equipment.
- Perform light maintenance, such as changing lightbulbs or fixing minor issues.
- Safety and Security:
- Follow proper safety procedures, including handling and storing cleaning supplies
- Specialized Cleaning:
- Respond to spills or accidents promptly to prevent hazards.
- Clean up after events or special activities.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishments as needed.
- Organize and store tools, equipment, and cleaning products safely.
- Customer Service:
- Greet customers and provide friendly, professional assistance.
- Assist customers with locating items.
- Merchandising:
- Restock shelves, racks, and displays to maintain a tidy and organized store.
- Ensure products are displayed attractively and according to store guidelines.
- Assist with inventory management, including stock counts and replenishment.
- Handle product labeling and pricing
- Store Maintenance:
- Keep the store clean and organized, including tidying fitting rooms and counters.
- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of high-traffic areas, such as entrances.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.
- Support Operations:
- Assist in receiving and unpacking deliveries.
- Organize stock in storage areas and maintain inventory records.
- Help prepare the store for promotional events, sales, or seasonal changes.
- Loss Prevention:
- Be alert to suspicious activity and report potential theft or policy violations.
- Ensure all safety and security protocols are followed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience is an advantage
- Understanding of safety procedures, including proper use of cleaning products and equipment.
- Time management and the ability to work independently.
- Basic maintenance skills, such as fixing minor issues or troubleshooting equipment.
- Ability to lift and move objects (up to 50 or 75 lbs).
- Stamina for long periods of standing, walking, bending, and climbing.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying cleaning or maintenance needs.
- Good communication skills for interacting with supervisors or reporting issues.

8 hours shift (must be available to work on Saturday)
