Principal Responsibilities:
Camp JCC Rishon campers are entering their first year at camp. The Rishon Unit Head is responsible for ensuring that the campers have a successful summer that fosters Kindergarten readiness skills. The Unit Head will oversee a team of 2 counselors and 20 campers. The dates of employment for 2024 are June 10-August 9, which includes a week of Tsevet (Staff) Training. Work hours are Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30, excluding extended days that involve early arrival and dismissal in the early evening.

Minimum Qualifications:
Essential Functions
- Supervises the Rishon (rising Kindergarten unit) campers (1 group with up to 18 campers)
- Works with the Head of Camp to create and oversee the day to day program operations of the unit, including scheduling, activities and rainy day activities
- Creates and leads age appropriate activities for campers as needed.
- Identifies and meets each camper's needs. This includes, learning likes/dislikes, recognizing and responding to opportunities for problem solving, interaction between campers and staff, creating great camp experiences for each camper.
- Provides behavior management techniques and intervention for campers where necessary
- Supervises Rishon counselors (up to 3 total) and evaluates their performance throughout the summer.
- Be familiar with and enforce the personnel policies, safety rules, and program of camp
- Attends all camp meetings, activities and special programs
- Keep records as required, including documenting all incidents
- Ensures for the health, safety, and welfare of all campers in any area or programs at camp
- Models appropriate behavior to staff and campers
- Must have previous experience working with preschool or early elementary age children.
- Must possess integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, patience, and self-control.
- Positive, "can do" attitude which is demonstrated by a willingness to pitch in and help wherever needed as well as an ability to anticipate what is needed
- Must be physically able to work outdoors in different weather conditions, including heat.
- CPR, First Aid and AED certifications are required.
