Principal Responsibilities :
The Camp Counselor position with Camp J at The Roth FamilyJCC of Greater Orlando, a part of Shalom Orlando, is responsible for providingprimary supervision and leadership for a designated group of campers in grades1-9, creating an engaging, safe, and inclusive environment that fostersindividual growth, builds community, and strengthens connections to Judaism,the Jewish people, and Israel through meaningful experiences andactivities.
Minimum Qualifications :
2025 CAMP SEASON DETAILS
- Dates : June 9-August 1, 2025
- Schedule : Monday-Friday, full-day program
- Training : Required attendance at orientation dates before camp start
- Commitment : The full summer season is highly preferred
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Group Leadership and Program ImplementationProvide direct supervision and care for an assigned group of campers (grades 1-9)Lead group through daily activities including swimming, sports, arts and crafts, field trips, and special eventsCreate an inclusive environment that integrates Jewish values and Israeli cultural activitiesAdapt and modify activities to meet group needs while maintaining appropriate camper-to-staff ratiosCollaborate with specialists and support staff to implement engaging programsPrepare and organize materials for group activities2. Camper Care and Communication
Build positive relationships with campers and support their social-emotional developmentMonitor individual camper needs and document / report concerns to leadershipMaintain professional communication with parents about their child's experienceManage check-in / check-out procedures and daily attendance records3. Safety and Administrative Duties
Follow all safety protocols and emergency proceduresAttend required staff meetings and training sessionsComplete necessary documentation and incident reportsMaintain equipment and supplies, reporting any facility issuesWork cooperatively with all staff to support camp operationsQUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills and Experience
Must be 18 years or olderHigh school graduate or equivalentStrong leadership and supervisory skillsExperience working with childrenExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to serve as a positive role modelPrevious camp or childcare experience preferredKnowledge of Jewish culture and traditions is preferredCertifications and Physical Requirements

The work environment includes significant time outdoors in various weather conditions during the camp season. Position requires mobility to move from activity to activity, and the ability to respond quickly to situations involving camper safety. Must be comfortable in and around water, and able to work in various weather conditions.
