Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Advocate to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and guidance to individuals facing challenges related to mental health, addiction, and behavioral health issues. Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support and guidance to clients, helping them navigate their recovery journey.
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist clients in managing acute situations effectively.
- Mentor individuals by sharing personal experiences and strategies for overcoming challenges.
- Conduct motivational interviewing sessions to empower clients in setting and achieving their goals.
- Collaborate with behavioral health professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Facilitate group sessions focused on addiction counseling and mental health awareness.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
- Advocate for clients’ needs within various systems, including healthcare, social services, and community resources.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to crisis management and behavioral health.
Requirements
- Experience or training in crisis intervention, addiction counseling, or mental health counseling is preferred.
- Strong understanding of behavioral health systems and resources available for individuals in need.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring or providing peer support is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in all client interactions.
