What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Worker position at JCCA?
Job Summary: Provide quality services to JCCA’s clients and staff while executing high maintenance standards; support all task and services needed in day-to-day operations of maintenance department.
Essential Job Functions:
- Follow approved food handling procedures
- Assist Chef in preparing food items
- Rotate perishable items as necessary to ensure freshness
- Restock items (food supplies, pots, pans, tableware, containers, etc.) in designated areas
- Set dining area in preparation for daily meals and/or special events
- Assist in receiving all food items
- Remove trash from kitchen and dining halls
- Meal set-up and delivery to cottages within an agency vehicle
- Follow dish washing best practices
- Clean dining room counters, tables, and kitchen counters thoroughly according to best practice
- Clean pots, pans, dishware, bakeware, utensils, cutlery, and other kitchen equipment thoroughly according to best practice
- Adherence to NY State Department of Health sanitation guidelines and JCCAs established policies and procedures
- Reports to work well-groomed and in compliance of Dept of Health guidelines
- Read and follow directions on labels, menus, and recipes
- Exhibit patience and courtesy when serving clients in the cafeteria
- Handle inventory management of Kitchen and Clothing Room supplies/stock
- Communicate to supervisors when key items are running out of stock
Knowledge, Education and Skills Required:
- High School Diploma
- Ability to drive non-CDL motor vehicle
- Valid New York State Driver’s License
Knowledge, Education and Skills Preferred:
- Culinary Certification preferred
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Ability to lift and/or move merchandise and/or kitchen equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
- While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to frequently communicate with members/employees who have inquiries about services that you are providing. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Hourly Rate: $18 -$19 per hour
