What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Practical Nurse (Per Diem) position at JCCA?
JCCA is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (Per Diem) to provide health care services to JCCA clients at the Pleasantville campus location.
Pleasantville Cottage School on JCCA’s Westchester Campus is one of the oldest and most respected residential treatment programs in the U.S. The first cottage-style center in the country, it celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012. Pleasantville also was home to the first psychiatric clinic in an American child care institution, and this tradition of innovative excellence has been a hallmark of the agency ever since.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
- Administers prescribed medications to youngsters and documents same.
- Screens clients for health problems. Delivers first aid and distributes medications according to Patient Specific Protocols. Relays problems to unit nurse or Division Nurse Administrator. Documents same.
- Transcribes Doctors' medication orders.
- Admits and monitors clients required to remain in bed, in infirmary and records findings.
- Executes physician treatment orders.
- Assists unit nurses on an as needed basis.
- Does inventory and ordering of supplies.
- Assists in preparation of medications for home visits
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Graduate of accredited nursing program.
- Possesses a current New York State registered professional
nursing license or licensed practical nursing license.
- Ability to work with youngsters and staff in an effective way.
- Good written and verbal skill.
- Experience in working with children and/or in the health field.
Pay Rate - $35 per hour
