Position Summary: JCCA is seeking a licensed psychologist to provide quality clinical interventions to youth and families, as well as supervision to doctoral level students. This role includes the provision of evidence-based treatment, comprehensive assessment, and opportunities for growth, leadership, and programmatic input. The psychologist would be split between the Westchester Campus and Bronx Office. As such, the psychologist will generally be expected to provide in-person services on-site in both locations. However, opportunities for some hybrid work (combination of in-person and virtual) exist. Psychologists are part of JCCA’s Behavioral Health and Wellness division, which provides an array of mental health services to youth and families across a continuum of care. JCCA values social justice; as such the psychology department strives to provide culturally responsive and affirming interventions from a trauma-informed lens.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Interventions:

  • Provide individual, dyadic, and group psychotherapy for children and adolescents in foster care, residential treatment, and/or in the community.
  • Provide conjoint/ collateral therapy to aid in discharge planning as needed.
  • Develop and facilitate support groups agency wide (parents, foster parents, children, adolescents and staff)
  • Conduct psychological assessment for children and adolescents, including the administration, scoring, and interpretation of a wide range of cognitive, achievement, projective, adaptive, and neuropsychological (where indicated) tools.
  • Maintain timely progress notes and other clinical notes related to therapy and assessment cases, which are used for billing of encounter-based services.
  • Provide feedback for psychological assessment findings to interdisciplinary treatment teams as well as clients.
  • Work within the context of a multidisciplinary team with the goal of positive outcomes toward permanency.
  • Provide crisis intervention and assist with psychiatric hospitalizations on as needed basis.

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Participate in ongoing individual and group clinical and assessment supervision of APA psychology interns and externs.
  • Timely review and approval of supervisee’s clinical notes, which are used for billing of encounter-based services.
  • Participate in ongoing programmatic evaluations and development of the APA accredited internship program and externship program.
  • Attend APA internship/ externship fair and engage in other recruitment opportunities.
  • Participate in review of psychology internship and externship applications, and interviewing and selection of applicants.

Training:

  • Lead training seminars for staff and psychology trainees on various topics as needed.
  • Develop and facilitate clinical training agency wide (parents, foster parents, children, adolescents and staff).

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Attend special administrative meetings (Case Conferences and other relevant meetings).
  • Meet with agency-wide psychology department at least quarterly to discuss programmatic and administrative accomplishments, concerns and updates.
  • Meet with Foster Home Services psychology department weekly to discuss programmatic and administrative accomplishments, concerns and updates.
  • Meet with Campus psychology staff monthly to discuss administrative accomplishments, concerns and update
  • Learn and adhere to OMH and OCFS regulations with respect to A29i and CFTSS
  • Report to Director of Psychology weekly to review individual clinical cases, supervisory concerns, and other programmatic updates.

Qualifications:

  • A Doctoral Degree in Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology from an American Psychological Association approved training Program
  • Licensed as New York State Licensed Psychologist.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • At least two years’ experience as a practitioner working in the field, conducting therapy and assessments
  • Initial salary is commensurate with number of years licensed to practice psychology in NYS. Additionally, there is a schedule for salary increases based on number of years licensed.
  • Solid organizational and follow up skills; excellent communication skills; computer literacy; ability to manage and work with a variety of different people; excellent writing and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish or other language(s) relevant to client demographic a plus, and cultural competence a must.
