Overview
JCCA’s Communications & Marketing department is responsible for agency communications with stakeholders, marketing JCCA’s programs and fundraising campaigns, and maintaining the organization’s online presence.
Reporting to JCCA’s Director of Communications and Marketing, the Storyteller works closely with JCCA’s Design and Digital Manager and the Fund Development team. The Storyteller will help meet JCCA’s strategic visibility and business growth objectives through internal and external communications, including printed materials, website content, social media, intra-agency messaging, and event programming.
The Storyteller will collaborate with staff, clients, and families to showcase JCCA’s life-changing and transformative programs and amplify the organization’s presence in New York’s media and philanthropic communities. The successful Storyteller will be highly organized, curious, collaborative, and passionate about creatively and effectively communicating JCCA’s mission and vision to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop stories that highlight news, events, clients, and staff and adapt them for social media, JCCA website, and stakeholder marketing materials
- Draft copy for development collateral, program marketing materials (flyers, brochures), reports, and general agency communications
- Learn JCCA’s ‘voice’ in order to develop and draft internal and external outreach (messaging, talking points, press releases, marketing copy) to support a cohesive, effective organizational communications strategy
- Assisting in the creation of videos, social media campaigns, infographics, and other creative projects to build and support the visibility and reputation of JCCA
- Facilitate internal communications around organizational initiatives, advocacy efforts, and other strategic goals
- Manage JCCA’s social media presence
- Help proofread, edit, and finalize written content produced across the agency
- Monitor current events and trends in child welfare, youth justice, and other topics relevant to JCCA’s mission and goals
- Pitch JCCA events and stories to print, broadcast, and online media outlets

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field
- Fluency in Microsoft Office and major social media platforms
- Minimum two years’ experience working in a communications, advertising, or journalism environment
- Available to travel to JCCA programs within NYC and Westchester up to 25% of the time
- Flexible to cover occasional evening and/or weekend events
