Therapist (Preventive- SBC)

JCCA is seeking a Therapist to join our Preventive Services Program, offering targeted intervention to stabilize and strengthen families in crisis when their children are coping with mental illness and stress. Solution-Based Casework (SBC) model, designed to help the caseworker build a partnership with the family to help identify their strengths, focus on everyday life events, and help them build the skills necessary to manage challenging situations. The model combines the best of the problem-focused relapse prevention approaches that evolved from work with addiction, violence, and helplessness, with solution-focused models that evolved from family systems casework and therapy. The goal of integrating the two approaches, is to restore the family’s pride in their own competence and reduce the risk for future involvement of the child welfare system.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and family counseling for clients/families at risk of foster care involvement.
• Offer clinical support to help ensure families remain safe, stable and whole under the supervision of an experienced LCSW-R Administrator.
• Conduct assessments, make referrals and monitor progress of client needs.
• Be a part of a child welfare focused interdisciplinary team of clinical social workers, psychologists, and psychiatrists.
• Maintain compliance with regulations of NYS Department of Social Services and NYC Administration for Children’s Services for client contact and documentation requirements.
• Conduct home visits to clients in compliance with regulations of NYS Department of Social Services and NYC Administration for Children’s Services.
• Attend clinical case conferences, staff meetings and trainings to ensure ongoing skill development.
• Attend inter-agency meetings (including client-specific meetings at schools, hospitals, ACS, etc.).
• Participate in planning and implementation of client group activities.

Qualifications:

• Master’s in Social Work (MSW), Mental Health Counseling (MHC) or Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) from an accredited school
• Knowledge of individual, family and group therapeutic modalities
• Knowledge of needs of and identification of abused and neglected children
• Excellent writing skills to fulfill state and city regulations for documentation
• Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with client and teams that are culturally and professionally diverse
• Fluency in Spanish is HIGHLY preferred

Salary Range: $56K-$63K
