Description

The Assistant Director of Residential Support's role is to ensure JCFS Chicago is effectively providing adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) the opportunities to achieve their personal outcomes and independence. The Assistant Director will be responsible for overseeing the medical and case management operations of the Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assure compliance with agency policies, procedures, and practices, and applicable federal, state, and city regulations, and maintain knowledge of the Department of Human Services Division of Developmental Disabilities policies including Rule 50, Rule 115, Rule 116, and COA accreditation standards.
  • Appropriately accept feedback from supervisor/peers/supervisees and adjust based on feedback
  • Appropriately manage time to complete all necessary responsibilities by deadline
  • Complete required department, agency and regulatory trainings and meetings
  • Supervise the QIDPs, Benefits Coordinator, and Medical team. Monitor day to day performance of these employees and recommend changes in employee status
  • Evaluate performance, enforce agency and department policy and procedures
  • Partner with People and Culture and Training Department on the Coordination of DSP and QIDP staff trainings/billing across departments
  • Ensure compliance with the Sex Education for Adults with I/DD Act including staff training, assessments, curriculum adaptation and implementation
  • Chair Case Management and Medical meetings, follow up on recommendations and maintain/delegate minutes
  • Chair the Behavior Management Committee and follow up on recommendations and maintain/delegate minutes
  • Solicit, encourage and promote resident input in all aspects of programming
  • Communicate and maintain strong relationships with parents/guardians/families/staff and community members
  • Act as a key member in the intake and admission process
  • Work collaboratively with outside stakeholder
  • Assure medical needs of residents are addressed
  • Create family engagement opportunities
  • Partner with the Development Team on fundraising opportunities and efforts
  • Participate in relevant agency and DHS-DDD trainings. Seek out professional development opportunities as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in human services field of study
  • A minimum of five years of successful performance working with adults with a variety of developmental disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform supervisory level responsibilities.
  • DHS Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) certification or eligible to obtain
  • DHS Authorized Direct Support Personnel (ADSP) to administer medication certification or eligible to obtain
  • Familiarity with DHS CILA regulations
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Access to a vehicle required
  • Safe driving record required
  • Familiarity with Judaism and Jewish Orthodox community
