Description
This is an eight-week program designed to fully immerse students in the day-to-day activities of an agriculture commodities trading company. The program consists of orientation where Interns learn about our culture, people, and the different business lines at J.D. Heiskell. The Accounting/Finance Internship program enables the individual to build relationships with internal customers and gain exposure to business accounting for an agriculture company. Duties may include journal entries, reconciliation, reporting, and ad hoc projects. It is the blending of skills and knowledge in a fast paced, dynamic working environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in posting journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts
- Understand and utilize appropriate analytical methodologies, tools and systems to enhance analysis
- Assist in executing on-going projects
- Perform ad hoc analytical review of financial information, analyze data and identify any problems or opportunities
- Support Treasury team with other projects, including process improvement and automation
- Prepare daily cash position reports, banking activity reports and credit facility usage reports for senior management
- Support Credit team with other projects as assigned
- Communicate with co-workers, management and company personnel in a courteous, timely and professional manner
- Demonstrate regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments
- Other duties as assigned by Accounting Management
Requirements
- Pursuing Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited program in Accounting
- Overall 3.0 GPA or higher
- Junior or Senior
- Superior communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work as an effective team player and add value to team
- Able to complete 8 week internship June – July
- Ability to work in Omaha, NE
