Job Summary:
The Behavior Technician II position works with high behavior individuals to provide in-home care and services on their behalf, as well as contributes to the company and management team with the goal of improving and maintaining high-quality performance standards and reputations within the communities we serve.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Provide services to individuals who are likely to engage in behaviors, such as but not limited to, physical aggression, verbal aggression, elopement, self-injurious behavior, and property destruction
- Ability to understand and implement a variety of support plans and individual service plans
- Maintain compliance with federal and state standards and laws
- Gather and document information in order to support individual needs and goals
- Track and chart data on a daily basis in compliance with company expectations
- Communicate frequently with managers and coordinators, especially in response to behavioral incidents
- Ability and willingness to fill in Direct Support Professional roles as needed
- Medication administration in accordance with company policy
- Assist with cash transactions, accurately track spending, and maintain receipts according to company policy
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including but not limited to, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, and peri-care
- Maintain and complete continuing education as required
- Reporting suspected or known abuse according to company policy
- Uphold confidentiality and privacy of individuals served and staff members
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal and state healthcare laws and regulations
- Willingness to travel to and from surrounding areas as needed
- Vehicle, driver’s license, and valid auto insurance per the State of Minnesota
- Fluently read, understand, speak, and write the English Language
- Dynamic communication skills, working techniques, and ability to multitask
- General computer skills/knowledge
- Working cell phone with internet access
- Experience with Positive Supports and Crisis Interventions
- A working understanding of the abstract nature of maladaptive behavior
- Monthly trainings as assigned
- Ability to read, understand, and follow specific Protocols, potentially including but not limited to, Seizure Protocol, Functional Behavior Assessment, Behavior Reduction Protocol, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Clear driving record (No major violations or DUI/DWI convictions in the past 5 years)
- Ability to pass a background check with the MN Department of Human Service
- 3 years of experience working with individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors
- 3 years of working experience in healthcare or mental health, with a focus on individuals with high behaviors and disabilities
- Familiarity with medication administration and medical documentation
