The Direct Support Professional is responsible for providing comprehensive personal care, guidance, and support clients according to their specific needs. This position is also responsible for promoting client independence through appropriate role modeling, administering client program and goals, and ensuring client’s personal needs are satisfied in a safe manner.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist clients in behavioral and personal care services
- Assist clients with activities of daily living according to clients' unique care plans
- Accompany clients on recreation and leisure activities
- Implement clients' plans as written
- Increase clients' independence in their community
- Ability to understand and implement a variety of Behavior Support Plans and Individual Service Plans per client outcomes and goals
- Ability to track and chart data on a daily basis in line with company expectations
- Ability to attend, assist, and engage in team meetings as needed
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Ability to pass a background check with the Department of Human Services
- General computer skills and knowledge
- Reliable transportation insured in the state of Minnesota
- Proof of insurance and current driver's license
- Clear driving record (No DUI's in the past 5 years)
- CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
- Fluency in reading and writing English
- Communication skills
- Working cell phone with internet access
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals of varying needs and diagnoses
