About the Role:
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team New York City. This role involves designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial, residential, and institutional projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, experience with MEP design software, and the ability to collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for a variety of building types.
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design tools.
- Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and energy modeling to ensure system efficiency and compliance.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and electrical engineers to integrate mechanical systems into building designs.
- Conduct site visits to assess project progress and ensure installation aligns with design specifications.
- Research and apply building codes, energy regulations, and industry standards (NYC Building Code, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.).
- Assist in the preparation of reports, cost estimates, and technical documentation for project proposals and submissions.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in mechanical design for MEP projects (NYC experience preferred).
- Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, Revit, EnergyPlus, Carrier HAP, or similar MEP design tools.
- Certifications (Preferred): EIT or PE license (or working towards it).
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and plumbing design principles.
- Familiarity with NYC Building Code, ASHRAE standards, and energy compliance regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
