Job Title: Solar Design Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Solar Design Engineer to join client who's team are focused on commercial and industrial solar energy projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing solar power systems, strong technical expertise, and a passion for renewable energy. Experience with microgrid systems is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Solar Energy Systems: Develop system designs, including PV array layouts, electrical wiring diagrams, inverter selections, and energy storage solutions for commercial and industrial clients.
- System Analysis & Optimization: Perform energy production simulations and load analysis to ensure designs meet performance, budget, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Project Teams: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure designs align with project goals, timelines, and cost estimates.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to local, state, and federal codes, industry standards (NEC, IEC, etc.), and customer specifications.
- Microgrid Integration (optional but preferred): For candidates with microgrid experience, integrate solar solutions into microgrid systems, including energy storage, backup power systems, and advanced control systems.
- Prepare Documentation: Develop comprehensive design documentation, including technical specifications, single-line diagrams, and system proposals.
- Support Project Execution: Provide support during the installation and commissioning phases, including site visits and troubleshooting.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices, particularly in solar energy and microgrid systems.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience in designing solar energy systems, particularly for commercial and industrial applications.
- Experience with solar design software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD).
- Experience with microgrid design and integration (preferred but not required).
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, solar photovoltaic technology, and energy storage systems.
- Familiarity with electrical codes and standards, including NEC, IEEE, and local regulations.
- Proficiency in system modeling, load analysis, and performance simulations.
- Certifications: NABCEP Certification or equivalent (preferred but not required).
