The ideal candidate will bring 5 years of industry experience and deep technical knowledge of high-voltage substation engineering. The position involves representing utility client’s interests throughout the substation design process - ensuring quality, compliance, and constructability of designs ranging from 34.5kV to 500kV.
This is a technically engaging role that will involve coordinating with multi-discipline design teams (including physical, civil/structural, and protection & control engineers) and working closely with various stakeholder to drive project delivery from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as technical SME for substation projects in an Owner’s Engineer capacity
- Review and evaluate designs to ensure compliance with applicable standards and constructability
- Collaborate with project teams and external stakeholders to align deliverables with project schedules and budgets
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers.
- Represent client interests in design and coordination meetings
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with regulatory standards
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
Experience:
- 5 of hands-on experience in the U.S. power utility sector.
- Strong understanding of substation design disciplines and their integration (Physical, P&C, Civil/Structural)
- Familiarity with Bentley MicroStation and/or Autodesk Inventor is a plus
