JD Sound and Video is seeking an experienced Lead Audio/Video Installation Technician to oversee the installation and maintenance of commercial audio and video systems. This is a hands-on role for a skilled professional passionate about delivering high-quality solutions for diverse commercial environments. Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead the installation of audio and video systems in commercial settings, ensuring projects are completed on time and to spec.
- System Installation: Handle all aspects of A/V system deployment, including low-voltage wiring, cable termination, rack fabrication, and equipment mounting (displays, cameras, speakers, and projectors).
- System Programming: Perform basic DSP programming and some Crestron system setup, including loading code.
- Problem Solving: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues during installation and commissioning.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of installation progress and system configurations using company-provided tools (e.g., iPad).
Job Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in commercial A/V installation, with a proven track record of managing complex projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of DSP programming (Q-SYS and Biamp preferred).
- Hands-on experience with Crestron systems, including code loading and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with network setups.
- Understanding of sound systems and at least basic set up of mixers (gain, EQ, etc.)
- Proficiency in cable terminations: shielded CAT6, standard CAT6, BNC, XLR, TRS, RCA, and 3.5mm connectors.
- Knowlege of working with unistrut, and related hardware.
- Tools and Equipment: Proficient with power tools (e.g., drills, saws, hammers) and comfortable working on ladders (up to 16 ft.), lifts (26 ft. indoors, 60 ft. outdoors), and within manufacturer weight limits.
- Certifications:
- OSHA10 certification (required within 30 days).
- CTS certification (required within 30 days); CTS-I certification preferred within 90 days.
- Additional Skills: Basic carpentry, networking knowledge, and software proficiency (Crestron Toolbox, Q-SYS Designer, etc.).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs comfortably and work on active job sites.
