Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) Greater New York Chapter encompasses a large geographic area that includes the five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, Westchester County, the Hudson Valley, Upstate New York and Fairfield County in Connecticut. The Greater New York Chapter has a strong staff team, Community Boards of Directors, as well as diverse groups of volunteers who are actively engaged and passionate supporters of the organization and its mission across the geography.
Summary
The Development Manager (DM) is responsible for the successful fundraising, planning and execution of a variety of Chapter-wide initiatives as well as the development and stewardship of productive relationships with Breakthrough T1D volunteers, supporters and donors. Primary responsibilities will include recruitment and oversight of a team of riders as part of the Breakthrough T1D Ride, a team of athletes as part of both the New York City Half and Full Marathons and additional development of local chapter-based endurance events as part of Peer to Peer Programs. The DM will be expected to manage, evaluate, and expand programs for the Chapter in these areas and meet / exceed annual fundraising goals. Additionally, the DM will collaborate with the entire Chapter team to support other deliverables as needed, including managing a portfolio of teams for the Breakthrough T1D Walk.
This is a hybrid work schedule, in the office two days a week (downtown Manhattan) and remote three days a week.
Responsibilities
- Leadership responsibility for managing and leveraging a comprehensive Endurance events strategy, for both Ride and Run programs, to achieve or exceed fiscal year recruitment and financial goals.
- Maximizes core market penetration and capitalizes on opportunities for expansion including corporate team integration.
- Partners with donors, committees, and constituents to renew and secure new support through multiple fundraising channels. Meets with constituents in the field.
- Manages and continually develops assigned volunteer committees providing leadership, cultivation, acknowledgement, support.
- Identifies, builds, and stewards relationships with community and corporate leaders as an integral part of volunteer and donor prospect development and engagement in Breakthrough T1D activities.
- Supports third party fundraising events tied to Ride / Run efforts.
- Maintains departmental and organization-wide policies and procedures and supports regional and national directives including collaboration with national / regional staff to implement best practices and shared ideas.
- Utilizes Salesforce CRM for community, donor and constituent management.
- Develops expertise in fundraising management platforms.
- Adheres to all local and nationally created program timelines.
- Supports other fundraising events, chapter activities and programs as assigned, including a portfolio of constituents / teams for the Breakthrough T1D Walk.
- Supports and maintains the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of Breakthrough T1D. Understands the strategic direction and purpose of the organization and supports the Chapter's fundraising strategies and business needs.
