Description
Job Summary
The ability to design and machine tooling and fixture components in support of all production operations in the facility. Support maintenance technicians with repair of mechanical systems and equipment throughout the manufacturing plant.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Calculate dimensions or tolerances, using instruments such as micrometers or vernier calipers.
- Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
- Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
- Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.
- Assign employees as needed.
- Write SOPs and ensure they are followed.
- Collaborate with the Engineering department on projects.
Experience/Education Requirements
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- 2-5 years experience machining/tooling
Physical requirements
· Work performed in a factory setting
· Regularly lifts and/or move up to 40 lbs and occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
· Regularly uses both hands to load and unload metal bars into/out of lathes.
· Regularly required to stand, bend, reach, kneel, crouch and walk about the production facility.
· Regularly required to use their hands and fingers to feel objects that may be hot or sharp.
· This position requires the ability to focus mentally on the task at hand and complete complex tasks with manual dexterity, hand eye coordination and without being distracted.
