What are the responsibilities and job description for the Developer Intern position at JE Group of Companies?
We are a small company of environmental consultants and engineers and technical, scientific, and business software application developers and engineers that provides environmental, health and safety services to large industrial companies.
The Developer Intern performs a variety of web related tasks in broad spectrum areas of environmental health and safety for large enterprises. The Developer Intern Part time is a part-time position (max 28 hours weekly) and must report to the physical office.
Essential duties
- Document procedures and guidelines for the IT department.
- Documentation of tasks utilizing JIRA and Confluence.
- Documentation of new and existing applications.
- Software application and web testing.
- Assist with maintenance of hosted sites and databases.
Position requirements
- Understanding of Microsoft Windows 7 / MAC OS X, Microsoft Office Suite, as well as various internet browsers Chrome, IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera.
- Ability to interact with many different types of individuals, including executives, scientists, engineers, and other business professionals.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Relevant experience in back end programming, front web design, and software/web debugging.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Self-starter and possess the ability of critical thinking.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Other desirable skills
- Basic networking knowledge.
- Experience with project and task tracking software.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Work experience.
Working conditions
The job is performed in an office environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards. The job requires some physical exertion, including sitting, standing, occasional light lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. The job requires operation of standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, copiers, etc. The job requires following written and oral instructions, attention to detail, ability to multitask, ability to work with others and ability to meet deadlines. The job requires following established policies and procedures, meeting quality and safety standards and regular attendance. The job requires making decisions based on experience and knowledge without supervision and requires responsibility for results.
Salary range
$20 - $30 per hour.
