Jeanette Hunt (Blair) Animal Shelter is a small, but growing animal shelter in Blair, NE. We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and hardworking individual to join our team.
Job Description
The Animal Shelter Worker is responsible for the care and treatment of animals in the shelter. This position requires the ability to interact with animals in a professional manner and provide proper care. This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with animals and can work independently.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic care and care of the animals in the shelter (bathing, feeding, etc.)
- Maintain cleanliness of animal areas (bathrooms, litter boxes, etc.)
- Maintain animal facility cleanliness (sweep, mop, vacuum, etc.)
- Maintain animal facility equipment (screens, litterboxes, etc.)
- Maintain safe working environment by keeping them clean and orderly at all times
- Assist with animal control by removing aggressive or dangerous animals from the shelter
- Provide general upkeep to the animal facility such as cleaning cages, scooping poop, etc.
- Maintain positive interactions with clients by providing professional services and by maintaining good clientele relations
- Perform other duties as assigned by management or supervisor
Skills & Qualifications
·Previous experience in animal care or other related fields is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person.
·Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to handle animals of all sizes. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Must be punctual and reliable. Must have good communication skills and be able to read and write English. Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to work. Must be organized and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills. Must have a strong work ethic and desire to help animals in need.
