Description
ROLE:
Works with financial management to perform monthly accountant functions, maintain financial records, and implement department processes improvements. Using established accounting procedures performs a variety of well-defined accounting duties, including preparation of journal entries and preparation and analysis of financial reports along with a large number of account reconciliations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures monthly close work is complete per closing schedule, including all necessary month-end journal entries.
- Inputs, monitors, and reconciles monthly non-accrual entries.
- Assumes responsibility for aspects of the financial close processes, analysis, and reporting, including certain complex accruals and other accounts.
- Prepares monthly account reconciliations on balance sheet accounts. Performs root cause analysis for outliers and inconsistencies and recommends adjustments.
- Develops new processes, documenting controls and/or reporting requirements for new activities.
- Prepares monthly journal entries timely and accurately.
- Works independently to gather support for all regulatory reporting requirements and Credit Union tax filings.
- Reviews and reconciles monthly general ledger account reconcilements and those submitted by other departments.
- Ensures financial statements are maintained per the US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepares and reviews the quarterly National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Call Report.
- Performs ad-hoc analysis and other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Three years of related experience in finance, accounting, or lending is required. Experience within the financial industry is preferred
Education:
- Bachelor's degree is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Concentration in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is preferred.

- Builds relationships and fosters positive interactions with Credit Union team members, members, and vendors by demonstrating friendly, helpful, and efficient service. Good verbal and written communication skills, patience, active listening, and sound judgment are required. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality.
Other Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, business applications, and the ability to learn the core system and other related software are required. Must have the ability to apply cognitive reasoning to daily tasks, take ownership, and work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos is required. Ability to dissect raw data into a summarized analysis and perform research on current and new accounting practices is required. Must be highly motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and skillful with time management. Efficient with multitasking, problem-solving, and practical application. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing the quality and accuracy of work performed
Salary : $30 - $45
