Civil Designer III

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Draft site plans, roadway plans, and railroad plans, including site dimension, utility plan, grading & erosion control plan, drainage areas, civil details, and other sketches as directed by the Engineer. In addition to the above, check drawings, and coordinates with the other discipline drawings as they impact documentation.
- Designers are expected to observe professional ethics in their association with others including fellow employees, clients, and vendors
- Reviews rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from the Engineer.
- Reviews project scope of work and notify project management of any perceived changes in scope that may appear during the design phase.
- Reviews the design input and communicates any ambiguous, incomplete, or conflicting information to the supplier of the input for resolution (includes processing information such as vendor drawings, marked up drawings, design basis, notes, and verbal instructions).
- Reviews design output to verify it meets design input (i.e., verify output meets design basis, design input and standard industry practices).
- Track and log all design decisions.
- Performs work related to design changes after validated documents are issued and notify project management of any perceived changes in scope resulting from the change.
- Conform to Jedson Engineering Inc., drafting and quality standards
YOUR IDEAL BACKGROUND:
A high level of competency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required. The ability to create, modify, reference and plot drawings to Jedson and/or client standards is key to this position.
- An associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and 5 to 7 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to review survey data from multiple sources, utilizing Civil 3D Grading, Corridor and Rail design tools.
- Ability to coordinate scope hand-offs between other disciplines.
- Communicate Civil 3D design and scope through Navisworks for all underground piping, roadway/rail designs, and 3D grading models.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of professionals and all aspects of the industrial design process including but not limited to, process engineers, electrical and instrumentation engineers, architects etc.
