Our client is a full-service civil and environmental engineering firm specializing in water, wastewater and civil engineering. They have years of experience working with state and municipal governments and is one of New Hampshire's most experienced and respected engineering resources.
They are in immediate need of a Project Manager who applies thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of engineering to plan, manage, and lead assignments for a variety of clients in the practice of engineering. Uses clear communication to work with engineering staff and clients to interpret, organize and execute projects. This position is directly responsible for supervising staff and will need to work out of their Portsmouth NH or Concord NH office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the delivery of a project to meet client needs and satisfaction.
- Applies applicable codes, regulations and engineering standards.
- Directs multiple project teams.
- Capable of leading multiple medium to large projects.
- Independently manages professional engineering work on a variety of assigned projects.
- Oversees communication with regulatory officials and clients.
- Represents the company at conferences and tradeshows and assigns/approves junior staff attendance including presentations on significant projects.
- Mentors junior staff.
- Takes an active role in business development, professional relationships and opportunities.
- Oversees invoicing for assigned projects.
- Notifies Principal and/or Board of Directors if additional resources are required to perform work in accordance with company standard of care to the client.
- Secures new projects/clients and selects staff for assignments.
- Oversees and/or implements QA/QC processes including applicable problem solving.
- Provides budget analysis and monitors cost accounting of project.
- Participates in client contacts and marketing of company capabilities.
- Participates in company resource utilization and planning.
- Prepares and manages scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Leads preparation of proposals for professional engineering services.
Design:
- Provides concepts and oversees solutions to complex engineering problems.
- Oversees basis of design information, equipment evaluation, and design computations.
- Responsible for contract drawings and specifications.
- Guides preparation of permit applications, technical memorandums, reports and opinions of cost.
- Coordinates internal quality control, client review and regulatory design review comments at project milestones.
- Manages project budgets, invoicing and funding disbursement requests.
- Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the project work.
- Responsible for setting project goals and assigning duties and schedules to the project team.
- Provides guidance and communication to staff.
Construction:
- Communicate with the Client, Resident Project Representative (RPR), Regulatory Officials, Funding Agencies and Contractor during construction.
- Oversees review of shop drawing submittals and may approve submittals on certain projects.
- Create, issue and respond to construction change documents as directed by the Project Manager.
- Perform construction site visits to observe conformance to design specifications.
- Perform startup services for all projects.
- Prepare construction meeting agendas and facilitate/assist construction progress meetings.
- Resolve construction issues.
- Review QA/QC testing results during construction.
- Review Operation & Maintenance manuals that are prepared by others.
- Travel required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in engineering or other related field.
- Normally requires ten (10) years of experience with five (5) years of experience in project management.
- Possess advanced oral and written communication skills at all internal and external levels.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and curiosity to changing technology and materials.
- Knowledgeable of pertinent civil engineering principles, skills and aspects.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with BlueBeam, SewerCAD, WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, HydroCAD, BioWin, preferred, not required.
- Valid Professional Engineering license in the State employed.
- Maintain valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Maintain professional appearance.
- 10 Hour OSHA Training Certificate.
Compensation is a base salary of $110-140k plus bonus, 401k and benefits.
