PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY: Provide instruction for adult English language learners (ELLs) and work with Adult ESL and Literacy team and District staff to ensure academic success for ELLs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Conduct English proficiency testing, administer pre and post assessments, monitor progress in academic and language growth, and complete appropriate documentation for reporting adult ELLs attendance and assessment results in a timely manner.
Teach appropriate levels of English language development (ELD) courses to adult ELLs from diverse language and cultural backgrounds.
Provide language instruction in the four domains of English language acquisition: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Implement curriculum for adult ESL courses offered based on the CCRS and ELP standards. Use technology as a tool for instruction and as content in order to provide digital literacy skills.
Attend professional development and trainings provided by CDE, CAEPA and COTesol or those recommended by the supervisor.
Collaborate with adult ESL staff by co-planning and/or co-teaching.
Provide effective communication by accessing Translation Services for written translation and oral interpretation as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS: Adult ESL Certification (ABEA) or in progress.
EXPERIENCE: Experience with adult education instruction and familiar with best practices for adult learners. Experienced in integrating technology into the classroom as an instructional tool and for personal productivity. Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills. Successfully demonstrate the use of standards based lessons, rubrics and assessments. Documented classroom experience.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Knowledge of reading/writing process for second language learners. Knowledge of sheltered instruction techniques. Knowledge of and commitment to English Language Development standards, language acquisition theory, best-practices and research-based instructional strategies in literacy, co-planning and co-teaching, data driven instruction, and differentiation strategies. Ability to demonstrate a belief that all can learn through differentiated core instruction. Ability to collaborate with classified staff, administrators, and district ESL Coordinator or Director. Knowledge of assessment linked to instruction, such as using standards based lessons and rubrics. Demonstrated commitment to teamwork in establishing and meeting student achievement goals, school and program goals, and professional development goals through team planning and active participation in professional development opportunities.
