ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT
Ken Caryl Middle School (KCMS) is part of the Columbine High School articulation area, which includes high and low socio-economic diversity. We currently serve 900 students in grades 6-8, with approximately 125 of whom are in our GT center program; we also have a center-based program to support students with severe needs.
At KCMS, we believe in a shared leadership approach to empower our staff to make informed decisions that impact our school and student learning. We strive to develop the whole-child through our positive behavior program, PRIDE. KCMS is a school focused on literacy, project-based learning, an engaging school-wide culture, and real-world use of technology and tools. All students have a personal Chromebook to allow them to connect with the world around them through innovative classroom learning.
ABOUT THE JOB
Successful candidates will be able to create a positive first impression by greeting KCMS visitors, checking IDs for student pick up, sending passes for student pick up, answering phone calls, managing student assistants, and performing other duties as assigned to ensure smooth office operations.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- File and maintain student records.
- Perform clerical duties such as answering telephone, taking messages, and typing.
- Provide information to administrators and school staff regarding school curriculum and technology.
- Answer questions and communicate with students, teachers, parents, or public visiting the office.
- Distribute U.S. Mail and District pony mail.
- Perform photocopying as requested.
- Order and stock supplies.
- Compute curriculum schedules.
- Compute copy machine charges.
- Perform annual inventory, storage of supplies, and general house keeping.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED required. Jeffco paraprofessional training will be offered upon acceptance of a position and must be completed at first available training opportunity.
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in a school setting preferred.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Requires basic language, math, writing, microcomputer, and filing skills. Knowledge of general office equipment preferred.

SUPERVISION/TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITY: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
