The mission of McLain Community High School is to provide an alternate path to a life of learning, opportunity and choice. McLain is more than just one school. McLain?s unique design provides a variety of school programs housed at one location. McLain?s programs have been tailored to meet the needs of the diverse students and families that we support. Students earn their high school diploma by completing the graduation requirements as outlined by Jeffco Public Schools. Our programs prepare students to be college and work-ready upon graduation. Min-Mid Annual Salary Range: $130,553 - $154,243 Effective as of: 08-16-2024
**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY Provide leadership to McLain High School and JCAPPP program. Coordinate other school Alternative Cooperative Education (ACE) programs in the District, including at-risk programs, work-experience study (WES) program, teen pregnancy, programs, and child care programs for teen parents.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

EXPERIENCE Minimum of three years' of licensed experience in a public or nonpublic elementary or secondary school, and a minimum of two years' educational administrative and/or comparable administrative leadership.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's degree, plus additional course work required for certification or licensure.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Colorado Principal License issued or in process.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Basic computer, word processing skills, internet, and email skills.
DECISION MAKING Ability to determine staffing levels and budget requirements; develop alternatives and make decisions in crises situations; and apply good judgment to ensure student safety and carry out student discipline. Standards for decision making are not defined and errors could result in substantial embarrassment to the District and/or compromise student safety and the learning environment. An individual in this position may delegate decision making authority to the assistant principal level; however, final decisions at the school site remain the responsibility of this position.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS Daily contact with professional staff to set policy, and with students to negotiate controversial matters. Weekly contact with school support team and public agencies to exchange information and maintain relationships, with parents and citizen committees to negotiate controversial matters, and with the general public to recommend policy. Monthly contact with advisory committees to recommend policy, with vendors/contractors for routine internal matters, and with local government to exchange information and maintain relationships. Annual contact with media to exchange information and maintain relationships.
SPAN OF CONTROL Directly supervises 45 employees at the McLain High School and JCAPPP program. Positions supervised include Teacher, Secretary, and classified staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATIONAL DELIVERY Provide leadership, goals, focus, management, and priorities for teachers, staff, and students. Provide support services for educational technology, educational resources, and special education. Provide direct services for implementation of instructional programs, evaluation of teachers and administrators, supervision and evaluation of personnel who work with students on a regular basis, supervision of the design/delivery/assessment of curriculum, collaboration with community agencies, and supervision of nursery staff. The majority of time is spent on the school site.
COMPLEXITY OF WORK Requires analytical skills, independent thinking, considerable judgment, and the ability to assess crises and make sound decisions quickly with little time or input from others. Must have a strong understanding of student behavior District culture and policies and be able to quickly analyze the impact of decisions on the student, school, District, and community. Final decisions at the school are the responsibility of this position. Generally, work is complicated by the diversity of the students and related issues and crises.
