Semper Elementary; IB World School is located in Westminster, Colorado. We offer a warm and welcoming environment for our students, families, and staff. The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

SUMMARY: Guest Teachers are an integral part of the Jeffco team to ensure there is a quality teacher in every classroom. Responsible for the delivery of specified course content in the absence of the classroom teacher. Responsible for providing a safe educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. School Based Guest Teachers work for the full school year at a single school site.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Follow defined lesson plans set forth by classroom teacher.

Provide an impromptu lesson plan or activity in the absence of teacher provided lesson plan.

Assist students with their coursework and communicate assignment expectations.

Adapt instructional approach to the individual needs of the students.

Provide a safe learning environment and deploy proper classroom management strategies.

Collaborate with other instructional staff, including social workers, speech language pathologists, Special Education teachers, etc., as needed.

Perform teaching related duties of the assigned school including covering another class during an absent teacher's planning period, lunchroom duty, hall duty, bus duty and/or playground duty.

Assist with school-wide assessments including CSAP, ACT, and Acuity if necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE Previous teaching experience preferred. Other experience working with children in a learning environment will be considered.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING High school diploma.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively and efficiently use technology and information literacy in instruction. Willingness to learn new technology. Must be flexible and have capacity for dealing with ambiguity.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS: 1, 3, or 5 year Substitute Authorization with Colorado Department of Education OR a Colorado Initial or Professional teaching license.
