Job Description
I. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Must
have a minimum of 4,000 hours of verified paid occupational experience within healthcare over the last
five years
B. Minimum of an Associate’s degree in
Medical Assisting
C. Must
hold or be eligible to receive a valid Secondary CTE Health Science Technology
credential (requirements can be found on the CDE website)

III.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructor
will provide Medical Assisting curriculum and an introduction to healthcare to
high school students, which includes:
• A
variety of basic and routine patient care, including taking health histories
and vital signs
·
Preparing exam and treatment rooms
·
Instruction of examination and diagnostic treatment room
procedures
·
Instruction in medical documentation
·
Instruction of medical office skills, such as booking
appointments, filing, answering phones, maintenance of medical records, etc.
·
Instruction of medical terminology
·
Instruction in Anatomy and Physiology as it relates to
healthcare with the assistance of a Science Instructional Coach
·
Instruction of Law and Ethics for the Healthcare Professional
·
Functioning as an instructor in a classroom, clinical, or
supervised field setting
·
Preparing tests, class projects and case studies; grading
papers, averaging grades, preparing grade reports, and coordinating make-up
tests and assignments
·
Preparing lesson plans, preparing lectures, assisting with
development and implementation of course syllabus and curriculum
·
Selecting textbooks, videos, Internet activities and gathering
outside project materials
·
Preparing attendance reports and administering attendance policy
per Jeffco school policy
·
Providing timely written or verbal communication to all
stakeholders, including students, parents/guardians, administration, local
agencies, Red Rocks Community College, advisory members, and other staff
members
• Providing
leadership for mandatory student organization
• Ensuring
compliance with district and school policies
• Maintaining
an overall safe and clean training environment
• Compiling,
preparing, and maintaining accurate and complex records and reports
• Handling
multiple responsibilities simultaneously
• Employing
current technology skills that includes, but is not limited to, Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, etc.
• Performing
additional duties as assigned. This may include, but is not limited to,
clinical supervision of students and participation in after-school activities
and leadership conferences/trainings
Physical Requirements:
• Tasks
will require frequent sitting, standing or walking, and may include extended
periods of time sitting at a keyboard or standing in a classroom or clinical
setting.
• Tasks
may involve the lifting of persons (patients) or items of various weights in a
teaching setting.
• Tasks
require dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of all
equipment related to medical assisting skills or office equipment.
