PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SUMMARY Perform accounting and bookkeeping work for the district, which will include preparing and posting accounting entries (e.g., journal entries, receivables, cost allocations, bank reconciliations, etc.); analyzing revenue and expenditures in departments and business units; and preparing various reports to support financial monitoring. Work will be performed primarily in the district's ERP system, though duties may include importing data into the system and pulling data from the system to analyze in other software tools (e.g., Excel).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Perform standard and routine accounting activities within the district's general ledger, focusing on assigned business units and the general fund.
Ensure that revenue is properly recorded, debiting, and crediting proper accounts for earned revenue, reimbursement revenue, and other types of special or general revenues; and reconciling across systems.
Perform inventory management accounting entries, including periodic entries at month-, quarter- and year-end.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial reports and contribute to the preparation of the district's quarterly and annual financial reports.
Prepare reports for the Colorado Department of Education to substantiate reimbursement requests across various programs and/or grants.
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for assigned district bank accounts, including ensuring that interest income is properly recorded, and bank fees are accounted for.
Support departments and divisions with collections activities, where appropriate.
Prepare year-end reconciliations and reports, supporting the district's preparation of its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, including preparing and submitting special year-end journal entries and computations.
Support posting payroll data and information, including expense transfers, as part of the team's work to ensure compensation and benefits are properly recorded in district accounts.
Perform other duties as they are assigned.
EXPERIENCE: 2 years experience in accounting, finance and/or bookkeeping, preference given for accounting experience in a government entity.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED required, plus Associate's Degree or 2 years' relevant post secondary coursework or professional certification awarded by a recognized educational institution, preferably in accounting or business management.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS: None required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and processes. Skills using bookkeeping software and core Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, Outlook, and Teams); and familiarity with tools to automate and/or batch process certain routine transactions. Effective time management skills and attention to detail. Ability to perform mathematical computations efficiently and accurately. Ability to work cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment. Ability to embrace continuous improvement and change.
