POSITION: The Fixed Income Distressed Trading desk is actively looking for a junior analyst or associate for our New York office to help support the Special Situations team. The candidate will be working closely with the Head of Distressed Trading and senior analysts to underwrite credits in order to take principal and trading positions across the capital structures of stressed and distressed companies. The junior analyst or associate will learn technical and analytical skills to lead research on potential trading and investing opportunities, and will have significant exposure to clients, pitching ideas and partnering on investments.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Significant responsibilities related to researching public and private companies and developing trade recommendations. These responsibilities will include the following:
* Perform research and due diligence on public and private companies
* Perform legal and investment analysis of debt documents
* •Work with a team to develop internal and external trade recommendations
* Develop financial projections and prepare various valuation and financial analyses including discounted cash flow and comparable companies analyses
* Work directly with senior analysts and traders on proprietary investments
* Develop client relationships through investment recommendations
* These responsibilities afford direct and active interaction with senior members of buy-side clients.
* Undergraduate degree and 1-2 years of sell-side, buy-side or investment banking experience
* Strong technical, written and verbal communication skills
* Detailed technical skills including valuation and modelling
* Strong interest in the public markets and fixed income
* Resourceful self-starter, able to work autonomously and as team player
* Experience in fixed income is preferred
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and at least 1 year of sell-side, buy-side or investment banking experience
* Financial modeling coursework, training, or experience
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong interest in the public markets and fixed income

The salary range for this role is:
* Analysts ($100,000 - $110,000)
* Associates ($125,000 - $150,000).
