Position Summary for Lactation Consultant / Counselor RN / LPN:
JMA is looking for an energetic Full-time RN / LPN Certified Lactation Consultant / Specialist who thrives in a team based environment and has a passion for working with patients and their families in a primary care setting.

The Lactation Consultant/ Counselor is a Clinician, Teacher, and Leader. Routinely, the Lactation Consultant / Counselor provides specialized nursing care and education to breastfeeding mothers and their babies. In addition, the Lactation Consultant / Counselor makes clinical assessments, and uses current lactation theories and research to develop evidence-based feeding plans that address individual feeding issues while respecting the physicians and families breastfeeding goals. The Lactation Consultant / Counselor also has the opportunity to work in a staff nurse capacity, as needed.
Licensure / Certifications Requirements:
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to practice in North Carolina
- Board Certified as a Lactation Consultant or certified as Lactation Specialist (IBCLC)
- BLS (CPR) – American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Experience:
· 1 year in breastfeeding/lactation support preferred
· Pediatric/Primary Care Nursing experience preferred

Responsibilities
- Provide expert lactation support and education to new mothers and families, ensuring optimal breastfeeding practices.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify individual needs and develop personalized care plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to integrate lactation services into primary care.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and documentation of patient interactions.
- Stay current with best practices and guidelines in lactation consulting and nursing care.
