Job description
Jefferson Beach Yacht Sales (JBYS) is seeking a skilled and experienced small engine technician to work with our Southwest Florida client base. Candidate must have a background in mechanical, electrical or marine systems and work well in an independent and team environment.
JBYS services and repairs new and used Sunseeker, Viking, Valhalla, HCB, Sailfish, Williams, Princess, and Absolute yachts, Sacs Rebel as well as many other makes and models. This position will primarily work on boats ranging from 10 to 40ft.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of directly related marine industry experience in small boat engines especially Williams jet tenders (certified techs are given top consideration)
- Experience and ability to prep boat newly manufactured vessels for customer use utilizing prep sheets and checklists.
- Boat handling skills are a plus but not necessary.
- Ability to diagnose and install all variations of marine mechanical equipment.
- Certifications from recognized Marine engine programs are preferred but not required. Ongoing education or training is encouraged.
- Overall troubleshooting and diagnostics of all onboard equipment
- Must be comfortable working on the water, comfortable with heights and small spaces.
- Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license.
- Must have basic hand tools to perform work.
Responsibilities:
- Prep new vessels for delivery utilizing prep sheets and checklists.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in small marine engines, including outboard and inboard motors. Perform repairs to restore engine functionality and performance.
- Test vessels systems and run boats to ensure it is up to standards for delivery.
- Travel to marinas, different locations, and storage units as required to perform repairs.
- Stay up to date with manufacturer and industry training sessions.
- Work in a very clean and flawless manner so that boats are left in a better condition than when the work started.
- Report and coordinate with Service Manager to complete all tasks assigned.
