The Admissions Coordinator works four 10-hour shifts in order to have face to face contact with all Admissions Specialists to ensure that all Admissions Specialists understand workflows and complete tasks timely and accurately and will report to the CSU Program Manager on any issues.

The Admissions Coordinator implements an efficient admissions procedure and process that is customer friendly to the referral source, parents/guardians, and children/youth. The Admissions Coordinator will interact with both outside agencies and with team members with diplomacy, respect and professionalism.

New Vistas' mission is to use an interdisciplinary team of clinicians, residential counselors, medical staff and admissions staff to provide brief, 3-5 day, crisis stabilization treatment for children and youth with behavioral health issues, including depression, suicidal thoughts, other trauma reactions, and family issues. Our team coordinates treatment and provides tools and safety planning for children/youth and families so that they can safely return to their homes and the community. We are committed to serving Colorado's children/youth while maintaining a non-judgmental and inclusive approach.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • At least 2 years' experience in behavioral health or health care setting.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, including computer skills. Multi-tasking abilities, adaptability to change, and demonstrated strong customer service skills.
  • Positive attitude, team player, and a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Monitor and coordinate timely admission-decisions and process the admissions of children/youth for the Crisis Stabilization Unit at New Vistas to promote safe and appropriate admissions while maximizing capacity. Admissions decisions should be made and communicated to the referral source in 30 minutes or less, except for cases with unusual complexity.
  • Identify, problem-solve and resolve barriers to successful accomplishment of the 30-minute standard.
  • Support the discharge and transition of care to community resources as assigned.
  • Schedule admission specialists as appropriate to ensure that department is adequately covered.
  • Provide training for newly hired Admissions Specialists and ongoing training and supervision for a team of 10 Admission Specialists.
  • Attends PQI meetings and completes PQI projects as assigned.
  • Review processing of referrals and intakes for timeliness and completeness.
  • Track and trend by referral source all referrals, deferrals, and declines.
  • Manage RAE/insurance/contracts for admissions in cooperation with external stakeholders to ensure all processes are completed. This includes collecting insurance information, acquiring initial authorization, and, if applicable, verifying Medicaid Eligibility.
  • Acquire and maintain certification in Nonviolent Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training (CPI)
  • Acquire and maintain certification as a Qualified Medication Administration Personnel (QMAP.)

Salary Grade 14 - $63,800-$81,200*

Additional Salary Information*:

  • The salary range above is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.*
