The Crisis Nurse will provide medical and psychiatric nursing services to consumers at the Walk-In Center. Provide medical screening to determine the need for immediate medical services. Identify potential physical problems impacting the mental health of clients.
This position will work Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:00pm to 8:00am (overnight).
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
- RN or LPN, associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
- Meets the requirements of applicable federal, state and organizational background check.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Essential Duties:
- Completes standardized medical screening (including taking vital signs) for all clients at the Walk-In Center to help determine the level of care necessary.
- Identifies medical conditions requiring immediate medical attention and assists in facilitating referral to Urgent Care or Emergency Room.
- Assesses client’s current medications and/or side effects or any medical condition that may affect her/his mental illness.
- Informs other WIC staff of medical conditions affecting the client’s health and affecting his or her mental status and treatment needs.
- Works jointly with other WIC staff in coordination of follow-up care plan following assessment at WIC.
- Attends and participates in group supervision, team and other meetings as appropriate.
- Understands how trauma impacts the lives of the people being served, so that every interaction is consistent with the recovery process and reduces the possibility of re-traumatization.
- Participate in the Center’s training/educational programs designed to enhance knowledge about Trauma Informed Care, the impact of trauma and trauma recovery.
- Ensure that delivery practices are guided by the principles of trauma informed care.
Other Duties:
- Maintains acceptable attendance record.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
- Ability to operate a personal computer. Ability to attend meetings at a variety of locations.

Salary Grade 12 – (LPN) $57,200 to $61,360* ($27.50/hr - $29.50/hr)
Salary Grade 15- Registered Nurse $67,300 to $85,700*
Additional Salary Information*:
- The salary range above is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.*
- Additional pay provided for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.*
Nurses RN/LPN Bonus
$2,500 one month anniversary
$2,500 6 month anniversary
$2,500 1 year anniversary
($7,500 total)
Additional Bonus Information*:
- Based on full time (40 hours/week). Prorate if less than 40 hours/week*
- Must work a minimum of 20 hours/week to be eligible for bonus*
- Current Jefferson Center employees not eligible for sign on bonus*
- Bonuses are not earned unless and until continuous employment reaches the bonus effective date*
