What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant - Family Medicine position at Jefferson City Medical Group (JCMG)?
RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Specific Competencies:
- Admits patients to the clinic bay and assists the physician and/or nurse to provide physical care for the patient before, during, and after examinations and procedures.
- Performs routine clerical activities required for efficient operation of the clinic.
- Provides appropriate safety and infection control measures.
- Appropriately utilizes facility communication and information systems and equipment.
JCMG Core Competencies:
- Strives for continuous quality improvement.
- Participates in educational experiences designed to maintain and/or improve professional competence.
- Maintains high work ethic standards.
- Provides quality customer service to staff, patients and visitors at all times.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School diploma or GED, some college preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) training program preferred but not required.
Experience:
- Minimum one year of experience preferably in medical office setting, but not required
Certification/License:
- Certification as medical assistant preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Medical terminology
- Basic computer skills
- Staff with prior job experience without formal training are encouraged to sign up for JCMG’s Medical Assistant Program.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works in heated and air-conditioned area; may be exposed to infectious material and contagious conditions including exposure to patient body fluids, including blood and contaminated sharps; potential for exposure to hazardous disinfecting chemicals; must follow universal precautions and utilize personal protective equipment.
