What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Service Representative - Laboratory position at Jefferson City Medical Group (JCMG)?
RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Specific Competencies:
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationship skills by greeting all patients courteously and attempts to meet the patients needs to the best of his/her ability.
- Checks in lab specimens from floors or outside clinics when they arrive at the lab and uses appropriate safety and infection control measures when dealing with those specimens.
- Answers, screens and directs phone calls to correct person in the lab.
- Goes to the mailroom to receive and dispatch mail for the laboratory.
- Keeps reception area tidy and maintains inventory needed for the reception area.
- Correctly uses JCMG communications system to include electronic health records, Orchard (laboratory information system), faxing and paging.
- Protects patient’s rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
- Maintains operations by following laboratory policies and procedures; offering ideas for improvement of workflow.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- GED or High School Diploma
Experience:
- Experience in medical or laboratory setting preferred
Certification/License:
- Computer literate
- Attention to detail
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Articulate
- Computer skills required
- Good telephone communication skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works in heated and air-conditioned area consistent with a normal office environment.
