RESPONSIBILITIES

- Schedule patients for surgical procedures in the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
- Maintain and update surgery schedules several times a day, so the facility and physician’s schedules reflect the accurate schedule.
- Complete patient paperwork for scheduling (demographics, insurance, medical and surgical histories, and all other pertinent health information while scheduling the case).
- Initiates prior authorization process for scheduled procedures.
- Initiates first insurance eligibility check at time of scheduling.
- Interfaces as a direct liaison with patients and clinical staff at procedural locations.
- Consistently demonstrates good use of time and resources.
- Assist in rescheduling procedures as needed.
- Answer incoming phone calls for scheduling request. Responsible for the integrity of pre-registration to include accurate health care coverage.
- Knowledge of medical insurance and billing processes.
- Escalate operational, provider, or patient complaints along with other critical matters to leadership.
- Other duties as assigned. Expected to float into registration or other front-office positions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Experience:
- 1-2 years in medical field preferred
- 1-2 years of Surgical/Endoscopy scheduling experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Computer literate and general clerical skills
- Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes
- Proficiency with word processing software
