- Room patients & obtain vitals signs and pertinent health information.
- Conducts initial patient interview, orientating and educating the patients regarding tests to be performed and treatments to be provided.
- Schedules and conducts allergy testing (percutaneous and intradermal), PFT performance, and Nebulizer administration, and ingestion challenges as ordered by physicians.
- Schedules ongoing immunotherapy as required.
- Mixes vials for current allergy patients and gives scheduled injections.
- Document progress of immunotherapy patients, ensure patients are compliant, and convey any concerns to the physician.
- Case Management of specialized medications.
- Orders allergen supplies for the division.
- Create Allergy test sets and monitor test sets for expiration dates.
- Triage and treatment of symptomatic reactions.
- Address and triage patient concerns via phone.
- Populates or updates patient chart (EMR) with relevant medical data.
- Ensures a physician is on premises while patients are in-office in the allergy clinic.
- Effectively manager emergency procedures and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all provisions of the Allergy Policy Manual.
- Participate in educational experiences designed to maintain competence (meetings, training, process improvement work).
- Effectively utilize all appropriate applications of the eCW & Rosch computer systems.
- Effectively manage dynamic, potentially stressful patient encounters.
- Use excellent guest relations skills in all interactions with patients, visitors and staff.
- Follow all safety, security, and infection control, policies and procedures. Perform all tasks to ensure the safety of self, patient, and co-workers.
- Perform patient care duties and procedures following department policy, established protocol and standard of care.
- Strives for continuous quality improvement.
- Participates in educational experiences designed to maintain and/or improve professional competence.
- Maintains high work ethic standards.
- Provides quality customer service to staff, patients and visitors at all times.
Education:
- Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
- One (1) year of acute care experience
- A history of working in an outpatient setting, preferably in asthma/allergy, ENT, pediatric, or dermatology specialty offices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
- Self-motivation, empathy, and stellar interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to multitask
- Enthusiasm and desire to participate as a team member and gain a variety of technical skills
