Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Missouri DESE Counselor Certification required.
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
- School Counseling experience preferred, but not required.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Valid Missouri driver's license.
Essential Job Functions
- Act as a liaison with sending school counselors and keep in communication with the counselors about student progress, changes or updates in programs, and student enrollment.
- Coordinate scheduling and assist in developing the master schedule.
- Coordinate contracts for students who do not meet the minimum attendance, and grade thresholds.
- Manage and maintain student records in Infinite Campus.
- Manage dual credit/articulation agreements with post-secondary institutions.
- Coordinate all recruitment activities for all sending schools including presentations on and off-campus as well as arranging tours and other recruitment activities.
- Develop recruitment materials to inform prospective students about program offerings, admissions, and procedures. Materials may include: course descriptions, recruitment presentations, program posters, interest surveys, and local labor market information.
- Maintain Perkins accountability data.
- Provide information and assistance to students and families regarding various financial aid programs, including scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study opportunities.
- Manage and proctor eligible students for each program approved IRC/TSA and ensure that all students are tested at the appropriate time.
- Counsel small groups and individual students as needed.
- Consult with teachers, staff and parents regarding the developmental needs of students.
- Assist with the placement of students in appropriate career and educational settings.
- Attend all meetings and training sessions as directed.
- Assist administrators with the distribution and interpretation of TSA tests scores for students and parents.
- Facilitate informational evening sessions for parents regarding NCC programs, dual credit coursework, and college fairs.
- Manage the NCC Student Ambassador program and help facilitate the NCC Student Advisory Committee.
- Attend IEP and 504 meetings according to caseload.
- Demonstrate regular attendance that complies with District policies and rules.
- Demonstrate effective and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, and the community.
- Assist with day to day operations supporting the Nichols Career Center administration office and assist in supporting CTSO evening activities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Nichols Career Center Director.
