Classification Summary
The incumbent provides technical support to maintain and enhance the College’s IT infrastructure. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and maintaining firewalls, core network components, telecommunication systems, and video surveillance infrastructure to ensure operational continuity and security. The role involves diagnosing and repairing network hardware and software issues, performing preventative maintenance, documenting infrastructure updates, and conducting staff training to improve cybersecurity practices. Additionally, the incumbent supervises part-time staff and student workers, supports ad hoc tasks related to campus infrastructure upgrades, and adapts to emergent technical needs to uphold the College’s operational integrity.
Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience
Associate degree in Information Technology and a minimum of three years of experience performing Field Technician duties or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Classification Duties
- Carry out assigned initiatives and provide technical support by supporting installing, configuring, and maintaining firewalls, core network components, security software, and wired/wireless infrastructure technologies to ensure operational continuity and security. Provide operational support for campus telephony systems to ensure reliable communication. (B2)
- Perform training exercises for departmental staff by assisting in implementing cybersecurity initiatives, maintaining diagnostic programs, and supporting activities to enhance network security, including training staff on secure practices. To improve staff competency, guide them in maintaining and troubleshooting campus video surveillance and telephony systems. (B2)
- Perform preventative maintenance by supporting the configuration and maintaining firewalls and other network security components to preempt potential issues. Maintain campus video surveillance infrastructure to ensure its efficiency in supporting institutional safety and security objectives. (B2)
- Assist with maintaining and monitoring network hardware by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing network hardware and software issues, coordinating repairs to minimize downtime, and maintaining network stability. Document current network infrastructure and record updates to streamline monitoring and future maintenance. (B2)
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions and perform appropriate repairs to network hardware and software issues, campus video surveillance infrastructure, and telephony systems to resolve operational problems effectively. (B2)
- Supervise and train part-time and student workers to perform computer and network maintenance procedures. Oversee diagnostic and repair activities as part of broader maintenance tasks. (B2)
- Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned by adapting to emergent technical needs, such as supporting unique cybersecurity initiatives or campus infrastructure upgrades. Undertake ad hoc tasks related to network and telecommunication systems as required to ensure operational continuity.
