What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intergovernmental Caseworker position at Jefferson County Attorney's Office Child Support Division?
Essential Functions
Research multiple databases to determine and verify that establishment of paternity, a child support order, and/or legal action is necessary
Receive, review and respond to status inquiries and document requests from other states
Interpret other state laws and out-of-state agency rules and regulations in performance of duties.
Interpret orders received from other states and/or countries
Conduct comprehensive goal oriented customer interviews
Manage a caseload
Enforce orders in cases involving two states or a foreign country using civil, criminal and/or administrative enforcement methods, as appropriate.
Calculate and determine arrearages owed using information obtained from Kentucky pay records, custodial parent/non-custodial parent pay records and/or other state’s pay records and collect the arrearage through administrative or judicial methods.
Calculate child support guidelines and prepare cases for court when an order qualifies for modification.
Update case information in the child support system
Work performance reports as assigned
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of child support system, child support services and public assistance programs required. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and enforcement of child support orders. Computer experience mandatory.
Skills/Abilities: Must be a mature individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with the public, attorneys, co-workers and other Intergovernmental Agencies. Must possess accurate mathematical skills, strong organizational and time management skills. Must work well in a “team” environment, be conscientious, detail-oriented and reliable.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Eighteen (18) months or work experience involving child support enforcement, accounting/bookkeeping, community service work, administrative or public assistance work, and/or clerical office work may be substituted for knowledge requirements.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is located in the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, Child Support Division, 1930 Bishop Lane, Suite 100, Louisville, KY 40218. Work is performed in an office setting. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Daily use of computers. Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor and personal interaction with employees in department.
Salary: $39,520.00 per year/$19.00 per hour
(Funding is in whole or in part from federal, CHFS, or other state funds).
