Collections Administrator Position for the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office
The Collections Administrator is responsible for coordinating accounts receivable and collection program for the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office. The County Attorney Collections Program (CAPP for short) enables individuals to enter into a payment program for outstanding court debt and restitution in order to maintain driving privileges in the State of Iowa, which would otherwise be adversely impacted by non-payment of outstanding obligations. The administrator evaluates participants for eligibility in the program, determines appropriate payment structures, and ensures compliance over the period of outstanding obligations.
An ideal candidate possession strong organizational skills, good judgment and discretion, the ability to work independently and self-manage, as well as comfort working in a team setting. Strong communications and interpersonal skills are a must.
Secondary to the CAPP administrator position, the role will also involve legal secretary duties as assigned, such as:
· Answering phones and taking detailed notes,
· drafting legal documents and motions,
· scheduling and docketing proceedings and meetings,
· communicating with victims and witnesses in an office setting,
· providing input on case outcomes when appropriate,
· other administrative or secretarial duties as assigned.
Applicants should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be detail oriented, accurate and timely, courteous, and discrete. Position reports to the County Attorney. Prior experience working in the legal or collections field would be helpful but not a prerequisite. Physical requirements are light, but may occasionally need to lift file boxes weighing up to 30 lbs.
The position involves access and engagement with confidential financial and law enforcement information, necessitating discretion and maintenance of personal information.
