Summary
As a Bus Driver at Jefferson County Board DD, you will play an essential role in transporting individuals with developmental disabilities safely and efficiently. This position is vital to our mission of fostering community inclusion and support.
Responsibilities
- Operates passenger bus designed to carry 23 or more passengers to program sites or other destinations (field trips, recreational activities, etc.) using established routes or by determining the most efficient routes
- Adheres to all traffic laws and Board policies
- Performs daily pre-trip inspection of vehicles
- Performs routine maintenance as required (checks tires, oil, fuel, water, visually inspects bus to ensure proper operation of safety equipment)
- Reports need for bus maintenance and repair to supervisor
- Maintains cleanliness of buses
- Maintains log of mileage
- Completes accident and/or incident reports as needed
- Completes all required documentation and reports
- Maintains discipline of riders, assists riders on/off using available apparatus and/or adaptive equipment
- Uses appropriate interventions to address behavior concerns of students
- Performs other tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor and/or Superintendent
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with School Bus and Passenger endorsements in accordance with ORC 4506.01 (E), 4506.12, and OAC 3301-83-19 and 3301-83-21 is required.
- Completion of Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) pre-service school bus driver training is required.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have a minimum of two years of driving experience, as required by ORC 3327.10, OAC 3301-51-10, and OAC 3301-83-10.If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities and have the skills we are looking for, we invite you to join our team at Jefferson County Board DD!
